Vacuum Toilets Launched at 4,506 Meters Altitude in Lijiang’s Yulong Snow Mountain 

Yulong Snow Mountain Glacier Park in Lijiang has successfully launched eco-friendly vacuum toilets at an altitude of 4,506 meters, becoming China’s first scenic spot with the highest-altitude cableway vacuum ecological toilets. Previously, the high-altitude area only equipped with traditional dry latrines, which caused unpleasant odors and poor tourist restroom experience. Restricted by high altitude, low air pressure and water shortage, upgrading public restrooms had long been a technical challenge for the scenic area.

To improve tourism service quality, the scenic area adopted the mature vacuum negative-pressure toilet technology used in aircraft. Officially started construction in May 2021, the high-altitude vacuum toilets were put into operation before the National Day holiday. Driven by the pressure difference between atmospheric pressure and internal vacuum, the system realizes non-gravity sewage discharge, achieving the unique effect of "water flowing upward" with extremely low water consumption and effective odor elimination.

In addition, the toilets are equipped with an intelligent management system, which can real-timely monitor air quality, stall status, water and electricity consumption, passenger flow, and support safety and fire alarm functions. Managers can remotely check real-time operating data of all scenic area toilets via mobile terminals and the Internet, realizing refined, digital and automated restroom management. Featuring water-saving, odor-free and non-gravity discharge advantages, the advanced vacuum toilet solution greatly optimizes the travel experience of high-altitude scenic spots.
